The SHE Is Us collaboration highlights the beauty of women – mind, body and soul.

I’ll pair your responses from the SHE is heard journal to create the identities of each figure painting. The Journal is a confidential space to be yourself, celebrate, share your truth, whatever you need to put out into the world, this space is welcoming.

 Behind the Figures:

My initial figures came out of casual conversations years ago. After friends knew I had taken figure drawing classes in college, there were so many questions and interests about how someone could sit nude for art, so that eventually led to a friend sitting for me. Using graphite to sketch during the sessions and then applying watercolor, I fell in love with the final pieces!

But there was something that would unexpectedly happen each time I sat with new friends - we would have beautiful conversations during these sessions. Discussions of recent accomplishments, ambitions, struggles, and a glow of confidence at the end of each session. It was a beautiful process and I’m grateful for the words that were shared. 

So for me, these figures represent many things: beauty, confidence, strength, celebration and so much more. As I’ve been creating more figures, I wanted to give everyone the chance to join this beautiful process. So I created a journaling space for you – the SHE is heard journal!

If you’d like to be a part of the SHE Collaboration, the journal is a place to shout out accomplishments, inspirations, struggles…I know sometimes it’s hard to take the time, or maybe you are more private, whatever the case, I’ve created that space for you. It is an anonymous space of respect and beauty. For you to share as much or little as you wish. You can come back here as often as you need.

In this collaboration I’ll weave your responses, your experiences together to complete each figure painting. Themes such as celebration, ambition, perseverance, and more will be discussed. You will be heard, celebrated and a part of this collaboration. There are so many emotions and events that we face. Together, we are supporting you, cheering for you and mostly reminding you that you aren’t alone.
