LOOKING FOR LEMONS

The last three months of painting have been a whirlwind and these lemons truly have given me life. The citrus beauties came alive early March in the midst of the well-known global pandemic. I was a recently confirmed case of Covid-19, so battling the virus as well as the dreary 30-degree NYC weather, I needed to create my own sunshine and endorphins – I needed to paint!

Warm weather and sunshine bring me all the good feels, so I leaped at the thought of a hot summery day. I began channeling all things summer. Sunshine, cook outs, sweet tea, lemons…LEMONS! They scream warmer days. Citrus is a summer staple after all!

My mind was exploding with memories and the taste of summery lemons. My grandmother's lemon icebox pie, lemonade, lemon cake, limoncello, lemon martinis…there was no stopping it, the lemons poured out of me - and it felt so damn good creating them!

As I was in New York, one of the places the virus hit early, I knew how scary and unsure those first few days of the virus felt. I wanted to try and help in any way I could for those not yet affected.

These lemons represent hope, joy and they will bring warmth into your home. Life is super hard some days, and always changing. We have to Look For Lemons in the uncertainty, and I really hope sharing my lemons will help reveal all of the others around you!
